Yufuin is a peaceful hot spring town in Yufu City, Oita Prefecture, set in a scenic basin at the foot of Mount Yufu.
Unlike larger hot spring resorts, Yufuin has a quiet countryside feel, with rice fields, small rivers, boutique shops, cafes, galleries, and ryokan spread across the town.
The main walking route from Yufuin Station toward Lake Kinrin is lined with local sweets, craft shops, souvenir stores, restaurants, and small museums.
Mount Yufu rises behind the town and creates one of the most recognizable views in Yufuin, especially on clear mornings.
Many visitors come for an overnight stay at a ryokan, but Yufuin is also popular as a day trip from Fukuoka, Beppu, or Oita.
The town is easy to combine with Lake Kinrin, Yufuin Floral Village, Beppu, and other attractions in northern Kyushu.

Take the JR Kyudai Main Line to Yufuin Station. Limited express trains such as Yufuin no Mori connect Hakata and Yufuin on selected services.
By Bus / Car
Highway buses connect Fukuoka and Yufuin. By car, Yufuin is commonly visited together with Beppu or Lake Kinrin. For a more comfortable and hassle-free experience, we recommend using Easy Travel private car and driver.
