SUMMARY
Noboribetsu Bear Park is one of Hokkaido's most popular wildlife attractions, offering visitors the opportunity to observe Ezo brown bears up close. Located on top of Mount Shihorei, the park also provides spectacular views of Lake Kuttara and the surrounding mountains.
DESCRIPTION
Noboribetsu Bear Park is situated on the summit of Mount Shihorei and can be accessed by a scenic ropeway from Noboribetsu Onsen. The park is home to more than 50 Ezo brown bears, the largest land mammals in Hokkaido.
Visitors can observe the bears from elevated viewing platforms and feeding areas. One of the most popular activities is feeding the bears using specially prepared food sold inside the park. Watching the bears stand, wave, and compete for treats is a memorable experience for visitors of all ages.
In addition to the bear enclosures, the park features a Bear Museum where visitors can learn about the biology, ecology, and history of brown bears in Hokkaido. There is also an Ainu cultural exhibit introducing the traditions of Hokkaido's indigenous people.
The observation deck offers breathtaking panoramic views of Lake Kuttara, one of Japan's clearest caldera lakes, as well as the surrounding volcanic landscape.
Combining wildlife, culture, and scenic views, Noboribetsu Bear Park is a popular stop for travelers visiting the Noboribetsu Onsen area.
